Mary Hooks' Fave Peanut Butter Cookies
Mary Hooks shared this recipe with us because it’s something that is tied to the love of her great aunt. And Mary still asks her aunt to make them for her when she visits. These cookies are simple, comforting, and made to be shared. Just like love.
Mary's Recipe Written in Her Aunt's Own Hand
Peanut Butter Cookies
1/2 Cup Margerine (1 stick)
1/2 Cup Sugar
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
1 Cup Peanut Butter
1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Mix all above ingredients in a large bowl until mixture is creamy
2 1/4 cups Flour
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Soda
Mix dry ingredients before mixing with peanut butter mixture. Sift flour into peanut butter mixture and combine until a firm dough forms. Roll dough into balls and arrange on baking sheet. Flatten gently with a fork to make a crosshatch pattern.
Bake for 10-20 minutes depending on how chewy or crunchy you want your cookies to be.
(Side note: the dough will retain its basic shape in the oven, so cookies can be arranged fairly close together)
