Talking with Mary Hooks about Queer POC led work and prison abolition

We had the pleasure of having a great conversation with Mary Hooks. She is the Co-Director of Southerners On New Ground (SONG), a LGBTQ+ People Of Color led organization working across the southeastern United States. Mary shared with us why a recipe for Peanut Butter Cookies handed down from her great aunt, who she still asks to make those cookies when she visits, has deep meaning for her personally and in the spaces she shares with other organizers.

Mary talks about how her work is rooted in love for her people and we get into the need for joy in all of our lives even through struggles for liberation and survival.

You can find Episode 3: Peanut Butter Cookies with Mary Hooks on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, and right here on our website for download.
